Handheld Power Equipment Technician / Parts Rep

We are the Maritimes' only John Deere Dealership with 15  locations to serve you.

We are looking for a skilled, dedicated person to fill the position of Handheld Power Equipment Technician / Parts Rep at our Middleton, NS location.

 

Purpose:

The Handheld Power Equipment Technician is responsible for selling, receiving, and delivery of parts and accessories. This role will also be required to demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a variety of outdoor power equipment, as well as being a source of information for customers and fellow team members regarding the purchase and upkeep of such equipment.


Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and sells products and/or services to meet customer needs, offering product knowledge and recommendations
  • Records all sales and/or counter transactions that occur
  • Assist with inventory control (this includes all Stihl/Husqvarna products on the floor and in the back stock room)
  • Assist with merchandising and maintaining product displays. Ensure all Stihl/Husqvarna signage is current in the department and throughout the rest of the store.
  • Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed on Stihl/Husqvarna Power Equipment (Disassemble, repair, and reassemble the components and machines)
  • Repair and maintenance of Stihl equipment within tight schedules
  • Maintain consistent communication with the customer in regard to repair and maintenance of Stihl equipment (including warranty claims)
  • Prepare all forms including intake forms, work order forms with pricing, product/parts orders, inventories, etc.
  • Supplies Service Technicians with parts as required
  • Verifies receipting-in of shipments
  • Follows up on shortages and expedites issues by reporting to the manager
  • Assists in maintaining all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order
  • Assists in maintaining department reports
  • Assists in working on any reports, projects or parts related duties given by Parts Manager
  • Work with other departments as directed by your Parts Manager

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to diagnose and repair small gas engines
  • Basic data entry and keyboarding skills
  • Basic parts and machinery knowledge
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Fork lift license an asset
